Kitchen Porter

Description

We're recruiting for a Kitchen Porter for various back of house functions within our bar and restaurant and at the various events held at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London.

The position will entail the following:

·       To always look out for opportunities to develop our service
·       As part of our commitment for continuous improvement and innovation, all colleagues are encouraged to seek ways to improve work activities and promote efficiency
·       To prepare and produce food to the brand standard applicable to the site/ unit
·       Check deliveries for quality and quantity and store correctly in accordance with company systems.
·       Clean plates and pots as instructed
·       Responsible for the overall cleaning of equipment and kitchen areas
·       Assist other members of staff to move heavy loadsManagement of kitchen waste
·       To assist in all food production areas with basic food preparation in accordance with menu cycle requirements
·       To ensure all displays, counters and seating areas comply with company and statutory health and hygiene requirements
·       To clean all work areas during and after use and remove all waste to the appropriate area
·       To receive stock, store and check for quality and quantity; ensuring that all stock is dated and rotated.
·       To operate machinery as shown and trained to do so, ensuring that the equipment is used safely and in accordance with current regulations and company policies   
·       To perform any other reasonable duties as required by your manager

Requirements

All candidates must live within daily travelling distance of Central London and MUST have previous experience as a Kitchen Porter in the hospitality industry. Hours will vary but candidates must be availavle to work between 25-40 hours per week, including weekends as well as weekdays, when required. This is an on-going role and we are looking for someone to work on a regular basis from September to Summer 2011.

Please note that this position requires manual handling and lifting of heavy objects such as various kitchen deliveries.·Good verbal communication skills are essential in order to be able to liaise with a wide range of visitors to your work area.
