Description
The role of Leisure Manager is one of high responsibility, directly concerned with the welfare and the enjoyment of overseas junior students and staff management.
This requires the post-holder to take overall responsibility for the preparation, installation, operation and outcomes of the Leisure Programme including off-site excursions as well as the airport transfer arrangements to and from the school.
There will also be a strong reliance on team management. The Leisure Manager will be directly responsible for supervising, training and the performance of the leisure team as well as all other staff when involved in the leisure programme.
Person Specification
Essential
- Educated to A level or equivalent to UK level 4 education
- At least 1 year’s experience in a summer school environment
- Meticulous and thorough approach to work
- Thorough understanding of transport logistics
- Computer literate with emphasis on Microsoft Word, Outlook & Excel
- Good knowledge of airports and transfer issues
- Effective people management skills
- Experience working with young people
- Dynamic ‘can do’ approach to work
- Strong time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a team mentality
- A good understanding of child welfare
- Responsible approach to working with juniors
- Ability to work under pressure and be adaptable
- Clean criminal record
- Good knowledge of either sports and/or arts & crafts activities
- Interest in activities and local culture
Desirable
- NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) or equivalent in a relevant discipline: for more information on NVQs go to www.qca.org.uk/14-19/qualifications/index_nvqs.htm
- At least 1 year’s experience in a senior role directly concerned with logistics/programming or similar
- At least 1 year’s experience managing programmed activities
- Good working knowledge of at least one foreign language
- Good knowledge of the area surrounding the school
- First Aid certificate/Life Guard certificate
- Some knowledge of foreign cultures
- Driving licence
Requirements
The position would suit a highly organised and motivated person with previous relevant summer school experience.
The minimum age for legal purposes is 18 and all applicants should hold or be willing to apply for a full CRB disclosure or national equivalent if applying from outside the UK. EU national preferred - LAL cannot enter into any applications for work permits or sponsoring.
