Rainforest Conservation

Company: GlobalXperience
Location: Peru
Benefits: Volunteer Placement
Start: Various start dates
Duration: 6+ weeks

Description
Protect Peru's biological and cultural heritage and contribute to the local economy by working with local people in this nature conservation project.

You'll live and work in the Peru rainforests, monitoring wildlife species on trips with small teams of experts and running the centre's store. Your efforts will help to conserve the region’s great biodiversity, whose destruction would threaten the livelihood of the local people.

The programme includes:

* Monitoring species, which includes trips with a team of experts to find endangered species and mark them so as to be able to count and keep track of them.

* Running the local store, which is a small shop where some goods are sold like groceries, T-shirts, insect repellant, etc.

* Running the store also involves organising some scheduled activities like conservation talks, visits to protected sites and participating and supporting community activities.

Requirements
Basic Spanish language skills.

Applicants must be 20 years old or over.

There is a charge of £1775 to take part in this project for 6 weeks. Full board accommodation will be provided, as well as Spanish lessons and airport transfers.
